The Deb Paine you've always known, but never known.
As I turn over the page to this new chapter of my career, deep inside I want this blog to be a space where I can share myself in a new way, one that is more authentically who I am at the core. A place to share the way I see the world, design, and otherwise. A place to share things I find beautiful, emotional, inspiring, and not well known in the world of busy-ness. This is really what I am doing with this whole transition from "Deb Paine Inc." to "Method." It is a step away from the grinding pace of full-on construction and into a space where I can give my best to the kinds of projects I thrive in, with the people I enjoy working with most.
Details tell the story.
Every project is a story. Rather, every project is a moment in many stories that come together for a time, intertwine, shape each other, and create something, leaving each changed from the experience. And in each story, it is the details of all the stories that come together to give form to that particular shape and richness. Likewise in a building, it is the details that give the life and personality of a space, they characterize and define the entire building. So, in this blog, we'd like to share with you the story of a project that is all about the details.
Good Questions Make Good Beginnings
One of the first things I tell every client at our first meeting, "I'm going to ask a lot of questions." While the meeting is of course about the practicalities of a construction project, I am genuinely curious about everybody I meet. I’m looking for clients that want to enter into a creative and thoughtful process that is enjoyable, and getting to know each client is an essential part of my method.
A Curated Team of Curiomakers
While I can do a lot of creative things by myself, I am nothing without a great team of like-minded specialists to work with: carpenters, engineers, environmental consultants, plumbers, the list goes on. The real recipe for a great work is a great team, a team the clients can depend on and trust. And for me, a huge part of the enjoyment of construction is pulling together the right people for the job, creating a team where everyone shares the same desired goal and clear purpose, where everyone listens and participates. Each one brings ideas and skills that create wonderful pockets of excitement.
